"The designs of the four stamps in the miniature sheet show artefacts from Rákóczi’s War of Independence against Habsburg rule at the start of the 18th century. The first stamp shows a kuruc (anti-Habsburg) cavalry sabre, an officer’s sword, and a noble’s mace. The stamp of the second denomination is decorated with Rákóczi coins, the famous libertás, made of bronze, silver and gold, the princely seal of Rákóczi, and the medallion of the diet of Szécsény. The design of the third stamp shows the old national flag with the well-known inscription “Pro Libertate”, and musical instruments typical of the Kuruc age in the foreground –shawms and battle drums. Pistols and the characteristic kuruc powder-flask are depicted on the fourth stamp. The commemoration is completed by historical elements in the background impressions of the images and on the outer edge of the miniature sheet: written documents of the age of Rákóczi’s War of Independence, the letter of alliance of the diet of Szécsény, the juridical articles of the diet of Ónod, and an extract from the first regularly published newspaper, the Mercurius Veridicus. The central motif of the elegant commemorative cover for the miniature sheet is a battle scene, while the commemorative postmark shows a stylised drawing of the portrait of Ferenc Rákóczi II."
