"In Hungary, the Siberian polecat (Mustela eversmanni), which also likes hunting in farm buildings, lives mainly on the Great Hungarian Plain. A particular characteristic of this predator, which is at home both on ground and in water, is that it squirts a foul-smelling liquid at its attacker. The stamp design of the block shows the spider Eresus cinnabarinus, an endangered species in Hungary and the sole Hungarian representative of the species of the more than one hundred families of burrow-building spiders mainly living in the tropics. The striking elegance of the male is due to its carmine abdomen adorned with four narrow, white-edged, pitch black spots. The brilliantly coloured fully developed male wanders while the single-coloured, black-haired female spends its whole life on its web. Other animal motifs appear on the frame around the stamps of the numbered block, as part of the background print, and in the drawing of the special cover. The special postmark shows a stylised drawing of a lynx. "
