Minorities in Hungary II - Dutch
"The Germans came to the Carpathian Basin at different times, from different areas and in larger and smaller numbers, settling here and there throughout Hungary. They made a significant contribution to development through their building work, culture and historic role as intermediaries. In Hungary the “parliament” of the Germans, the National Self-Government of Germans in Hungary, was elected on 11 March 1995. Among other endeavours, the Self-Government strives to preserve the German language and culture, to foster partner relations, and to support the economy, literature and the arts. On the left of the stamp there is a woman dancing with the emblem of the National Self-Government of Germans in Hun-gary next to her. The background shows a part of a village, a reference to their architecture, and a detail of an accordion."
